Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Azar Qasi (ranked 1225 p4p, 191 weight class) and Duke Newell (ranked 2841 p4p, 380 weight class). Qasi comes into the arena with For Whom The Bell Tolls blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Aafke Stam and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Qasi with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Newell just misses with a punch to the body.
Qasi looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Qasi misses with a low kick as Newell jumps back.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Newell has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Newell uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Qasi.

Qasi throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Qasi swings and misses with a hook to the body.
We've been hearing reports that Qasi has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Newell is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Qasi lands a nice looking kick to the body. Newell takes a step back to recover.

Qasi looks to score with a jab to the body but Newell is just out of range.

Qasi lands with an uppercut that bounces Newell off the cage and back into range.
Newell throws a jab but it's blocked by Qasi.
Qasi slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Newell just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromQasi.
Qasi bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Newell's head backwards.
Qasi keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Newell.
A punch lands to the side of Newell 's head but he takes it in his stride.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nice sprawl there from Qasi as Newell shoots in.
Qasi throws a predictable looking body shot
and Newell decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Qasi's guard.

Qasi has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Newell doesn't defend quickly enough and Qasi has managed to lock this one up! Can Newell escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Qasi on a fantastic submission victory.
