I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jean Pierre Papin was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Uriah Faber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jean Pierre Papin!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Felipe Paraventi and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Papin clinches with his opponent.
Faber jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Papin walks away with a smile on his face. Faber gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Papin gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Faber tries to pull guard but Papin holds him up against the cage and eventually Faber drops back down to his feet.
Faber is trying to pull guard but Papin turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Uriah Faber. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Papin lands a left hand.
Papin lands a shoulder strike.
Good body shot from Papin.
Papin lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Faber.
Faber is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Papin to keep the fight standing.
Faber takes an elbow to the forehead.


It looks like Uriah Faber has been cut.
Faber is trying to pull guard but Papin turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Nice body punch from Papin.
Papin throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

and Papin counters with a nice uppercut.

Faber is breathing heavily.
Faber gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Papin counters with a stiff right hand.
Faber misses with a takedown attempt
and Papin counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


Uriah Faber's cut is getting worse.
Papin moves into range and connects with a jab.


Faber is rocked!

Papin darts in and clinches Faber up against the cage.
Oh Faber is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Papin lands a left hand that snaps the head of Faber backwards.
Papin unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Faber! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Papin is unloading with more strikes now! Faber drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jean Pierre Papin!
A very excited looking Jean Pierre Papin made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
