Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robb Wallace (ranked 3711 p4p, 472 weight class) and Connor Lourens (ranked 5188 p4p, 619 weight class). Wallace's entrance music is Venus - Theatre of Tragedy. A fine choice. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Robb Wallace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Connor Lourens !
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Santiago Holmes and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wallace shoots in for a double leg but Lourens sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Wallace walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.


It looks like Robb Wallace has been cut.
Lourens throws a shot to the body.
Lourens dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Wallace misses with a takedown attempt - Lourens sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Lourens cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Lourens scores with the left hand. Wallace knows he should have avoided that one.

Wallace bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Wallace is trying to get an arm triangle but Lourens is defending well.
Lourens takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Wallace postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Lourens wants to control but Wallace postures up.
Wallace lands some shots froms side control.

Wallace thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lourens takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Lourens felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Wallace lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Lourens down.

Wallace shoots for a double leg takedown but Lourens sprawls well. He's pushed Wallace's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Nice uppercut lands for Lourens . That snapped Wallace's head back.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lourens changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Lourens throws a head kick but Wallace moves out of range.

Connor Lourens is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Lourens tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Wallace takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Wallace finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Lourens tests Wallace's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Wallace changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lourens tries to avoid it but Wallace manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lourens to the ground. Lourens escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lourens looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Robb Wallace's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Lourens walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Wallace drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Lourens swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Wallace's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Connor Lourens !
