Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brody Kavanagh (ranked 546 p4p, 63 weight class) and Don Gotti (ranked 921 p4p, 110 weight class). Brody Kavanagh had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brody Kavanagh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Don Gotti!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kavanagh shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Gotti has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Kavanagh swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kavanagh ducks under a wild hook from Gotti.

Kavanagh bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gotti's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gotti had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kavanagh defends it easily.
Kavanagh slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Gotti throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Kavanagh escapes and throws Gotti's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Kavanagh wants to control but Gotti is keeping him busy.

Kavanagh is looking to take a break and control but Gotti is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Horrible takedown attempt by Gotti or perhaps it was just good defense by Kavanagh, which made it look bad.
Kavanagh feinted there with a counter leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Brody Kavanagh will probably get the nod.

Kavanagh takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Kavanagh clobbers Gotti with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Gotti changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Kavanagh ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gotti moves away.
Kavanagh thows a body kick. Gotti tries to catch it but that hurt him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gotti on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Kavanagh stuns Gotti with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Kavanagh cracks Gotti with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Kavanagh uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gotti.

Gotti closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Gotti seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kavanagh does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Kavanagh is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Convicted Fight Club, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Kavanagh is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gotti.
It seemed like Gotti was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Gotti has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Gotti there as he acknowledges the shot.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Gotti, as that shot connected.

Gotti tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kavanagh was well out of range. Poor timing from Gotti.

Gotti tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kavanagh manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
It looked like Kavanagh wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kavanagh moves into range and connects with a jab.
Kavanagh lunges at Gotti with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Gotti's hand.

Gotti changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kavanagh tries to avoid it but Gotti manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kavanagh to the ground. Kavanagh escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
