Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wolfgang Lee Roth (ranked 2436 p4p, 50 weight class) and Delwyn Baines (ranked 3517 p4p, 70 weight class). Baines comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Jeff Beck - Hi Ho Silver Lining kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wolfgang Lee Roth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Delwyn Baines!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee Roth bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.


It looks like Delwyn Baines has been cut.
Baines waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Lee Roth.
Lee Roth closes the distance and clinches up with Baines, looking for a takedown. Lee Roth pushes Baines against the cage but Baines circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Baines throws a hook to the side of Lee Roth's head but Lee Roth sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Lee Roth scores with a crisp jab that stopped Baines in his tracks.
Lee Roth jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Lee Roth's corner calls for a 1-2. Lee Roth obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Delwyn Baines seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lee Roth missing with a left hand there. Baines was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Horrible takedown attempt by Lee Roth or perhaps it was just good defense by Baines, which made it look bad.
Lee Roth fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Baines manages to avoid it.

Lee Roth fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Baines sprawls well initially but Lee Roth persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Baines tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Lee Roth manages to move to mount!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Baines is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Baines wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Lee Roth has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Lee Roth wants to control the pace but Baines is squirming around nicely.

Lee Roth has control of Baines's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Baines regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Lee Roth is trying to take his opponent's back.
Baines really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lee Roth. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lee Roth is working hard here to advance position.

Baines somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!
Baines looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Lee Roth lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Baines circles away quickly and effectively.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Baines escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A shot to the liver by Lee Roth. Beautiful body shot.
Delwyn Baines is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Baines throws a big shot that misses.
Baines ducks right into an uppercut from Lee Roth.

and Lee Roth cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Lee Roth avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Lee Roth shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Baines sprawls well. Baines wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lee Roth gets slowly back to his feet.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Baines! But no joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wolfgang Lee Roth. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lee Roth manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Baines on his heels. He'll look to pass Baines's guard now, I'm sure.
Baines can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lee Roth controls the pace.
Baines can't keep his opponent in guard - Lee Roth advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Lee Roth tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lee Roth has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Baines takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Lee Roth is looking to take a break and control but Baines is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lee Roth looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Baines is avoiding damage well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Baines has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Lee Roth finds it's way round the side to connect with Baines's head.
Lee Roth tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Baines defends well and Lee Roth ends up having to push Baines into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Lee Roth uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Baines.

Lee Roth shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Lee Roth showed some decent athleticism there.
Lee Roth is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Baines is squirming around, avoiding Lee Roth's attempts to control the action.

Lee Roth controlling the position well here. Baines rolled but Lee Roth kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Lee Roth's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A very excited looking Wolfgang Lee Roth rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
