Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ivory Solis (ranked 25556 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe DiMaggio (ranked 6480 p4p, 0 weight class). Ivory Solis has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ivory Solis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe DiMaggio!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, David Schapiro and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Solis. Those never looked like landing.
DiMaggio shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Solis as he avoids it easily.

Solis forces DiMaggio back against the cage and clinches.

DiMaggio pulls guard successfully.
Solis would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
DiMaggio is trying to keep Solis in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

DiMaggio throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Solis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

DiMaggio has his foot on Solis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Solis works his way back into a safe position though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

DiMaggio looking for a guillotine here but Solis defends easily.
Solis would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

DiMaggio throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Solis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Solis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
DiMaggio walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Solis checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

DiMaggio has closed the distance and engaged Solis in a clinch.
Solis managing to block the knees to the body from DiMaggio.

Ivory Solis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe DiMaggio.

DiMaggio throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Solis's waist but Solis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing DiMaggio off to one side.

DiMaggio is trying to push Solis away but Solis has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Solis prevents the takedown attempt.

Solis is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

DiMaggio stands and throws Solis's legs to the side, diving into side control.

DiMaggio decides to stand back up. DiMaggio steps back and let's Solis get back to his feet.
Solis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says DiMaggio as he avoids it easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
No luck with that takedown attempt from DiMaggio.
Good work by Solis as he checks the leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Joe DiMaggio will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


DiMaggio shoots in looking for a takedown but Solis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing DiMaggio's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
DiMaggio throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
It looked like Solis was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Ivory Solis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
DiMaggio goes for a double leg but Solis avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Solis continues to drive forward.
As DiMaggio looks to move away, Solis throws a big counter combo but DiMaggio just gets out of the way.
Solis uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
DiMaggio misses with a takedown attempt - Solis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Solis has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by DiMaggio after a bit of a struggle.

DiMaggio has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Solis clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

DiMaggio has got his arm under Solis's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Solis has spun round into DiMaggio's guard beautifully! Well done that man!
Solis makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Solis working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of DiMaggio's head.

Solis decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
DiMaggio shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Solis counters with a one-two to the body.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from DiMaggio is defended easily by Solis.

DiMaggio shoots in looking for a takedown. Solis tries to sprawl out of it but DiMaggio keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Solis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Solis swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

DiMaggio moves into range and clinches up with Solis.
Solis goes for a takedown attempt but DiMaggio pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Solis slaps away a takedown attempt from DiMaggio, before circling back to the center of the mat.
DiMaggio lands with a hook. Solis tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Solis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Solis wants it to stay on the feet.
Solis changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
DiMaggio is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
DiMaggio shoots in for a takedown but Solis shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
DiMaggio shoots for a double leg takedown but Solis sprawls well. He's pushed DiMaggio's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That's time! Solis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

DiMaggio is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Solis presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Solis is trying to drag DiMaggio to the mat but DiMaggio just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Solis tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Solis can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as DiMaggio controls the pace.
DiMaggio is looking to work some ground and pound but Solis has wrist control.
DiMaggio not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

DiMaggio gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
DiMaggio misses with a low kick as Solis jumps back.
Solis throws a nice looking combination but DiMaggio bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Solis closes this distance looking for a takedown but DiMaggio circles away.
DiMaggio counters with a body kick.
DiMaggio dives in and grabs Solis's left leg, looking for a takedown. Solis pushes down on DiMaggio's head and hops out.

DiMaggio bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Solis gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

DiMaggio jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Solis manages to avoid the submission attempt.

DiMaggio decides to stand up, so the ref orders Solis to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Joe DiMaggio.
I think DiMaggio has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
