Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pierre Perben (ranked 20438 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fujiwara Tsuyoshi (ranked 4265 p4p, 0 weight class). Tsuyoshi comes into a darkened arena with his song building. WHISPERED - HOLD THE SWORD kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pierre Perben!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fujiwara Tsuyoshi!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left and a right from Tsuyoshi both land. Nice combination.


It looks like Pierre Perben has been cut.
Tsuyoshi throws a poor cross that misses
and Perben counters with a straight right hand.
Tsuyoshi swings for the body but Perben moves out of range.
Tsuyoshi moves out of range as Perben strikes.
Tsuyoshi swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Perben feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Perben pulls Tsuyoshi in close to prevent any damage.

Perben wants to sweep here but Tsuyoshi controlling him for the moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Tsuyoshi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Perben circles away quickly and effectively.
Perben takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Tsuyoshi scores with a three punch combo!

Tsuyoshi throws a body shot but no joy.
Fujiwara Tsuyoshi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Perben misses with a takedown attempt
and Tsuyoshi counters with a nice uppercut.
Perben shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
letting Tsuyoshi counter with a right hand.
Perben misses the jab.
Tsuyoshi stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Tsuyoshi wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pierre Perben. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Perben breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Tsuyoshi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Perben manages to avoid it.
Fujiwara Tsuyoshi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Tsuyoshi tries to sprawl but Perben drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Perben wants to pass the guard but Tsuyoshi is defending well.
Tsuyoshi wants to control but Perben is keeping busy.
Perben is pressing down on Tsuyoshi's thigh, looking to free his foot. Tsuyoshi is holding on for now.

Perben is keen to just control but Tsuyoshi is a slippery customer.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tsuyoshi is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Perben jumps into side control!

Perben swings around for an armbar but Tsuyoshi sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Perben's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Perben is on top in guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Perben shoots in and drives through. Tsuyoshi sprawls well.
Tsuyoshi tries to clinch but Perben is having none of it.
Tsuyoshi misses with a looping left.
Fujiwara Tsuyoshi seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Tsuyoshi lands a lovely overhand right.
Tsuyoshi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Perben misses the shot to the body.
Tsuyoshi loads up on a big right hand but Perben slips the punch.
Tsuyoshi throws a looping overhand right but Perben ducks down to avoid it.
Tsuyoshi connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Tsuyoshi throws the left hand but Perben avoids the punch easily.

Good exchange - Tsuyoshi coming out on top.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Perben shoots for a double leg takedown but Tsuyoshi sprawls well. He's pushed Perben's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Tsuyoshi moves into the clinch successfully.

Tsuyoshi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Tsuyoshi throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Perben half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Perben shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Tsuyoshi leaves Perben with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pierre Perben. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tsuyoshi lands an overhand right.
Perben tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Tsuyoshi paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Perben takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.


Perben is rocked!
Perben walks straight into a right hand from Tsuyoshi - that's dropped him! Tsuyoshi jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Perben from any more punishment! Perben complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Fujiwara Tsuyoshi!
After the fight, Fujiwara Tsuyoshi was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
