The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Potter closes the distance and pushes Takayama back into the cage.

As Takayama tries to get set, Potter tries to push him back and clinch up but Takayama manages to avoid the attempt.
Takayama has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Takayama tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Reki Takayama seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Potter tries to close the distance and clinch up but Takayama swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Despite the aggression on Takayama's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Potter enables Takayama to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Potter manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
