Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Wendell Riggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ronald Verschot!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paul Aken and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riggs shoots in for a takedown but Verschot shows good takedown defense.
Riggs could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Verschot fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Riggs sprawls well initially but Verschot persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Verschot thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Riggs's head.
Riggs manages to get to full guard.
Verschot is stalling in the full guard.
Riggs pulls Verschot in close to prevent any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Verschot in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Verschot is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Riggs seems keen to control Verschot's posture.

Verschot drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Riggs manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Verschot has Riggs in his guard.

Verschot wants to hit a switch here but Riggs passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Verschot there!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Riggs goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Verschot is on top in guard.

Riggs might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Verschot stands and steps away. Riggs gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Verschot shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Verschot sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Riggs looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Riggs not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Riggs wants to sweep here but Verschot controlling him for the moment.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Verschot is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
A big right followed by a crushing left from Verschot knocks Riggs out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Ronald Verschot!
