PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jerome Alviso (ranked 5069 p4p, 441 weight class) and Uziel Boveda (ranked 3890 p4p, 365 weight class). Alviso comes to the cage accompanied by Oakland. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alviso fails to land with a series of punches.
Alviso is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Boveda.
Boveda looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Boveda gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Alviso.

Boveda swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Alviso throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Boveda stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

A little jabbing left from Boveda on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Boveda throws out a loose jab but Alviso uses good head movement to avoid it.
Boveda throws a big shot that misses.
Alviso takes a swing at Boveda's ribcage but misses.
Boveda takes one to the chin there.
Boveda takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Alviso fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Boveda to the ground. Alviso is now in Boveda's guard.

Alviso wants to control from the top but Boveda keeps moving.

Alviso is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Alviso accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Boveda really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alviso. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Alviso throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Boveda works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Alviso will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Alviso stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Boveda swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Alviso postures up in Boveda's guard and throws a big left but Boveda blocks it.

Alviso gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Alviso throws a hook to the side of Boveda's head but Boveda sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Boveda throws a jab but it's blocked by Alviso.
Alviso misses with a head kick.
Alviso just misses with a punch to the body.

Boveda dodges the punch combination from Alviso.
Alviso looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Alviso darts in and clinches Boveda up against the cage.

Boveda breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Alviso throws a hook but Boveda blocks it.
Boveda connects with a body shot that sends Alviso's belly button to the back.
Uziel Boveda is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Alviso throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Alviso.

Alviso is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Boveda knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Alviso is putting a hurting on Boveda here, landing some big shots from side control.

Alviso swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
