Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fredrick Glass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Asko Ilmarinen!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ilmarinen has Glass up against the cage in a clinch.
Ilmarinen is trying to pull guard but Glass turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Glass is trying to drag Ilmarinen to the mat but Ilmarinen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Ilmarinen lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Ilmarinen tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Glass just stands there and leans against the cage.
Ilmarinen is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Glass to keep the fight standing.
Fredrick Glass has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Asko Ilmarinen.

Glass looking to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ilmarinen wants to control from the top but Glass keeps moving.
Glass trying to keep a closed guard but Ilmarinen is proving a slippery customer.

Glass tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Glass has Ilmarinen pulled in close to control his posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Glass closes the distance and clinches up with Ilmarinen, looking for a takedown. Glass pushes Ilmarinen against the cage but Ilmarinen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Glass shoots in looking for a takedown but Ilmarinen manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Glass's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Ilmarinen unleashes a big counter combination but Glass bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Glass looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Glass throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Glass closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ilmarinen circles away.
Ilmarinen fails to land the takedown.
Glass fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Glass fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ilmarinen avoids it really well and circles away.
Glass sets himself, and Ilmarinen steps forward looking for the clinch! Glass avoids it this time.

Ilmarinen gets the takedown into side control.
Glass throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.

Ilmarinen wants to stand but Glass has his arm trapped.
Ilmarinen throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Glass is trying to control Ilmarinen's posture but Ilmarinen avoids it.
Ilmarinen cracks Glass with a big right hand but Glass just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Glass tries to buck Ilmarinen off but Ilmarinen is having none of it.
Ilmarinen is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Glass will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ilmarinen cracks Glass with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Glass is trying to get back to half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Glass is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Ilmarinen's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Glass is looking to improve his position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ilmarinen wants to take a breather but Glass is having none of it.
Ilmarinen is thwarting Glass's attempts to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Glass fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ilmarinen to the ground. Glass is now in Ilmarinen's guard.
Ilmarinen has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Glass has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ilmarinen is proving hard to escape from.
Glass is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ilmarinen lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Glass is trying to control the position but Ilmarinen postures up.

Glass wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Ilmarinen is now in half guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Ilmarinen working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

Glass keeping hold of Ilmarinen's head, controlling as best he can.
Ilmarinen tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Glass keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Glass wants to get back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Fredrick Glass is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Glass tries to sprawl but Ilmarinen drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ilmarinen is breathing heavily.
Glass is trying to maintain the position but Ilmarinen is very close to passing his half guard.
Glass is refusing to be controlled, as Ilmarinen sits in half guard.

Glass wants to control but Ilmarinen is keeping busy.
Glass gets full guard.
Glass is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ilmarinen is controlling him.
Glass looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ilmarinen is one step ahead there.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Glass is on top in guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Glass's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Glass wants to control from the top but Ilmarinen keeps moving.
Glass wants to pass the guard but Ilmarinen is keeping the position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Fredrick Glass will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Glass seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ilmarinen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Glass is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Glass is controlling the pace.
Ilmarinen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Glass is working away from the top position though.
Glass will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Glass prevents Ilmarinen from improving his position.
Ilmarinen looks like he's trying to stand up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Glass shoots for a takedown but Ilmarinen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Glass looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ilmarinen lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Glass looking to score a takedown here. Ilmarinen is defending well but Glass drives through and ends up in Ilmarinen's guard.

Ilmarinen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Glass trying to control but Ilmarinen is working from the bottom.
Ilmarinen controls Glass momentarily but Glass frees himself.

Ilmarinen is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Glass defends well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Glass distracts Ilmarinen with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Ilmarinen lands a couple of shots from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Glass closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Ilmarinen quickly recovers to half guard.
Well, if Glass is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
