PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Evan Tan (ranked 6471 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yggdrasil Livre (ranked 6913 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Evan Tan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Yggdrasil Livre!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Chris Edwards and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tan gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Tan takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Tan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Livre swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Livre moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Livre displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tan.
A big right from Tan misses.
Livre connects with a nice looking jab.
Tan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Livre pinned against the cage. Livre gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
It seemed like Livre was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tan clinches with his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Livre can't break the clinch.
Tan jumps guard but Livre stands there with Tan around his waist. Tan gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Evan Tan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tan drops down looking for an ankle pick but Livre pulls his leg out and moves away.

Tan fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Livre to the ground. Tan is now in Livre's guard.
Tan is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Tan won't allow Livre to sweep him here.

Tan tries to free his leg and advance position but Livre is retaining full guard.
Tan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Tan pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Livre is keeping the position for now.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Livre displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tan.
Yggdrasil Livre is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Tan walks into a stiff left hand from Livre.

Tan pushes Livre up against the cage in a clinch.
Tan is trying to drag Livre to the mat but Livre just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Livre wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Tan has him pressed against the cage.
Tan tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Livre smiles and moves away.
Some bone on bone action there as Livre checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
It seemed like Livre was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Tan tries to land a front kick but Livre steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Tan moves into the clinch.
Tan is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Tan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Livre is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Tan tries to clinch but Livre is having none of it.
Livre scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Livre connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Livre connects with a looping right hand.
Livre thuds a left hand into Tan's body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tan walks into a stiff left hand from Livre.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tan shoots in and drives through. Livre sprawls well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yggdrasil Livre dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Livre uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Livre takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Tan shoots for a double leg takedown but Livre sprawls well. He's pushed Tan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Livre fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Tan fails with an attempt to clinch.
The crowd cheers as Livre lands an impressive looking overhand right. Tan doesn't seem phased though.

Tan drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Livre is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Tan controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Livre is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Tan is stalling in the full guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Tan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Livre lands a really nice looking cross but Tan seems unphased.
Livre lands with a right hand.
Livre might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Livre dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Tan closes the distance and pushes Livre back into the cage.
Livre has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Tan is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Livre to keep the fight standing.
Tan tries to pull guard but Livre won't allow it.

Tan fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Tan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Livre jabs Tan to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Tan fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Tan throws a head kick but Livre moves out of range.

Livre jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Livre cracks Tan with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Tan looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Livre finish him?


Tan is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Livre lunges in with a left hook that violently twists Tan head around and knocks him out cold! Livre hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Yggdrasil Livre!
Yggdrasil Livre decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
