The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Touchard tries for a takedown but Rodd sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Touchard misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Rodd unleashes a big counter combination but Touchard bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Touchard shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Rodd is trying to defend but Touchard finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Rodd blocking the ground and pound attempt from Touchard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Touchard wants to pass to mount but Rodd is defending the position.
Touchard seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rodd can do anything to dispel that myth.

Rodd is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Touchard asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Touchard passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Rodd!

Touchard working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Rodd turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Touchard off and cradles Rodd's limp body as Touchard celebrates with his corner.
