Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pierre Rocha (ranked 25401 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Duke (ranked 6480 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pierre Rocha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Duke!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Wesley Smith and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duke misses with the combination.
Rocha drops down looking for a counter takedown but Duke sprawls and moves away.

Duke shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rocha manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Rocha trying to keep a closed guard but Duke is proving a slippery customer.

Rocha throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Duke pushes down on Rocha's leg and manages to get into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Duke tries to pass to full mount but Rocha defends it.
Duke wants to stand up but Rocha is controlling the position.
Duke prevents Rocha from improving his position.

Duke is trying to control. Rocha wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Rocha is looking to improve his position.
Duke thows a huge punch but Rocha dodges it nicely.
Rocha blocking the ground and pound attempt from Duke.
Duke wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rocha keeps working.
Duke might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rocha haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Rocha could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Duke in particular looking to stall.
Rocha is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rocha controlling the position well.
Rocha landing strikes from the bottom.
Duke is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Duke throws a lazy head kick

and Rocha counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Duke wants to stand back up but Rocha manages to pass into side control.
Rocha landing a few strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Duke struggling a bit here.
Rocha lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Duke down.

Rocha content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Duke is looking to reverse the position.
Duke is trying to escape the position but Rocha is controlling the position.
Duke tries to bench press Rocha off him but Rocha keeps the position.
Duke takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Rocha is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Duke will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Duke is trying to control Rocha's posture but Rocha avoids it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Duke manages to work his way to half guard, despite Rocha's best efforts.
Duke avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Rocha.
Rocha has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Duke is staying active underneath Rocha, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Rocha takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Duke has hold of Rocha's hands but Rocha slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Rocha is looking for a kimura but Duke is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rocha to get the leverage.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

That was a close round but I would say that Pierre Rocha will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Duke shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Duke was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A bit of a lull in the action here.
Rocha is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Duke's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Rocha gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Duke to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Rocha keeping moving, preventing Duke from controlling successfully.
Duke throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rocha works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Duke trying to control the position from guard on top but Rocha is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Duke accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Rocha doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Duke pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rocha is keeping the position for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Duke won't allow Rocha to sweep him here.

Duke is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Duke wants to control from the top but Rocha keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Duke darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Duke is breathing heavily.
Rocha is looking for a sweep. Duke is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Rocha makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rocha.

Rocha has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Duke has passed into side control.
Duke remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Rocha is working hard here to advance position.
Rocha is trying to maintain the position but Duke is very close to passing his half guard.

Duke is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rocha is just riding it out for now. Duke eventually gives up the hold.
Rocha gets back to full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Bob Duke showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Duke bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Duke tries to advance to mount but Rocha denies him.
Duke in side control, throwing shots but Rocha defends.
Rocha is not content to let Duke control the position.

Duke is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rocha knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Rocha can't do much from the bottom here.

Duke throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rocha was covering up waiting for the punch and Duke finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Duke takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Rocha is trying to control the position but Duke postures up.
Duke wants to pass the guard but Rocha is keeping the position.
Rocha wants to sweep but no luck.
Duke wants to control from the top but Rocha keeps moving.
Rocha is pulling down on Duke's head to control his posture.

Rocha lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Rocha is stalling in the full guard.

Rocha distracts Duke with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Rocha is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Rocha is fighting to break Duke's control of his arms but Duke is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Duke misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rocha drops down looking for a counter takedown but Duke sprawls and moves away.

Rocha has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Rocha is looking for a triangle but Duke pushes his legs off easily.
Duke stands and throws Rocha's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Duke gets to mount! Rocha was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rocha wants to control but Duke is having none of it.

Duke gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

And that's the end of the fight!
Bob Duke comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Duke has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
