And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Yoshi Takinawa!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Franklyn Lucas and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rowland takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Takinawa drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Rowland has one of Takinawa's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

Rowland is looking to stand up but Takinawa won't let him.

Takinawa throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Rowland escapes and throws Takinawa's legs to the side, diving into side control!

That was a close round but I would say that Ellis Rowland will probably get the nod.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rowland changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Takinawa looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Takinawa is trying to get back to his feet but Rowland has full control of the position and if anything, Takinawa has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Rowland is looking for the choke from the back position but Takinawa is controlling his hands well.

Rowland is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Takinawa can do to turn this around?

Takinawa is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Rowland has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Takinawa is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Oooh a big shot gets through from Rowland. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Takinawa is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Rowland gets his way!
Takinawa is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Rowland is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Takinawa has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rowland, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
