The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Powers gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Powers wants to break the clinch but can't.
Stelling keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Powers's efforts to push away.
Powers manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Powers pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Powers throws a head kick but Stelling moves out of range.
Stelling is looking for the big counter here.

Stelling misses with a takedown

and Powers counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Powers tries a knee to the head but Stelling blocks it.
Powers works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Powers misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Stelling .
Stelling wants to get back to striking at distance but Powers won't allow it.

Powers breaks from the clinch.

and Powers decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Stelling 's guard.
Stelling not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Powers content to stall in guard here.
Powers forces his way into half guard.
Powers works his way into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Powers remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Stelling tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Powers wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Powers tries for a kimura but Stelling is defending well.

Powers has hold of Stelling 's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Stelling tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Powers cranks the arm and Stelling screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Stelling , who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
