The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Adams shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mahoney's guard.

Mahoney kicks Adams off and gets to his feet.

Adams has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Adams accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Adams postures up in Mahoney's guard and throws a big left but Mahoney blocks it.
Mahoney is pulling down on Adams's head. It's preventing any offense from Adams, at least for the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Mahoney looks to land a right hand but Adams moved out of range.

Mahoney gets caught flat footed, as Adams shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Adams ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mahoney moves away.
Mahoney wants to counter the offense by Adams and move into the clinch position.

Mahoney manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Adams keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Mahoney gets through Adams's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Mahoney keeps control of Adams as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Mahoney lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Mahoney looks to land a left hand but Adams moved out of range nicely.

Adams rushes Mahoney and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

and Mahoney counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Adams is rocked!

Adams shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Adams was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Mahoney sneaks out the side door and pushes Adams away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Oh Adams is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Adams walks into a picture perfect straight right hand from Mahoney! He's gone down face first to the canvas, unconscious before he even hit the floor! Ohhhh. My. Goodness! That boys and girls was a beautiful knockout! Give that man a biscuit!

A relieved looking Dick Mahoney thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
