PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arjuna Ramadan (ranked 688 p4p, 80 weight class) and Chris Runt (ranked 1484 p4p, 176 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ramadan might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Positive Vibration. Chris Runt is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Arjuna Ramadan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Runt!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Columbo Gatti and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Runt misses with a hook
and Ramadan counters with an outside leg kick.
Ramadan bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Runt fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ramadan manages to avoid it.
It appears Ramadan was looking to counter with a kick there.
Runt blocks a jab.
Ramadan swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Runt.
Ramadan is looking to score with low kicks.
A slow jab from Runt misses its intended target.
Ramadan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Runt was well out of range. Poor timing from Ramadan.
Ramadan stuns Runt with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Ramadan is looking to land body kicks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Runt uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ramadan has time to react.
Ramadan avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Ramadan seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Ramadan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Runt, pushing him back against the cage.
Ramadan scores with a shoulder strike.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Runt misses with some punches.

Runt misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Runt misses with a punch on the inside.
Runt tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
We've been informed that Runt has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
A head punch on the inside from Runt fails to land.
Runt misses with a hook to the ribs.
Runt gets through Ramadan's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Ramadan jumps guard and drags Runt to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Runt is pushing down on Ramadan's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ramadan is fighting to maintain full guard but Runt has managed to sneak the leg through.
Runt wants to free his trapped foot but Ramadan is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Runt wants to take a breather but Ramadan is having none of it.
Runt wants to stand up but Ramadan has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Runt trying to pass the guard but Ramadan defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ramadan makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ramadan.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Runt content to stall in guard here.

Ramadan is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Runt is aware though and is defending well.
Ramadan keeping moving, preventing Runt from controlling successfully.
Ramadan is pulling down on Runt's head. It's preventing any offense from Runt, at least for the moment.

Ramadan looking for a guillotine here but Runt defends easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ramadan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Runt is one step ahead there.
Runt engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Ramadan has his foot on Runt's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Runt works his way back into a safe position though.
Runt controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Runt is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Ramadan steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Runt.
Runt throws a lazy right hand but Ramadan sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ramadan slips a jab and a cross from Runt.
Runt throws the left hand but Ramadan avoids the punch easily.
Ramadan fires out a quick counter leg kick but Runt just manages to avoid it.
Runt is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Runt is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Runt scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Ramadan looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Runt throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ramadan on the side of the head.
Runt is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ramadan.
Ramadan looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Arjuna Ramadan will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Ramadan wants to clinch up but Runt keeps it at a distance.
Ramadan lands a jab to the nose.
Ramadan gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Ramadan throws out a loose jab but Runt uses good head movement to avoid it.
Runt throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Runt checks a low kick from Ramadan.
It seemed like Runt was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Runt throws a hook but Ramadan blocks it.
It looked like Ramadan wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Ramadan smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Runt misses with a double jab
and Ramadan counters with a good, hard body kick but Runt shrugs it off.
Ramadan is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ramadan throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Ramadan thumps Runt with a low kick.
Runt lands a slapping body shot.
Runt misses with a body shot
and Ramadan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


Runt is rocked!

and Ramadan counters with a right hand to the body.
Runt is still on wobbly legs! Can Ramadan finish him?
Runt is breathing heavily.
Ramadan drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Runt's head, knocking him out cold! Ramadan is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Arjuna Ramadan!
Our winner, Arjuna Ramadan, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
