Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tom Can!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Sunday!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Illya Tyunina and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sunday closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sunday lands in his opponent's guard.
Can is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Can throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Can is looking for a kimura but Sunday is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Can to get the leverage.
Sunday is looking to improve his position.
Sunday is looking to control Can's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sunday avoid being mounted?

Can is trying to work for a kimura but Sunday is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sunday trying to control here.
Sunday tries to roll over but Can keeps him under control.

Can seems to be working for a kimura but Sunday defends the submission attempt.
Sunday tries to get to full guard but Can has control of the leg.

Can is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Can throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Can seems to be looking for submissions.
Sunday has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Can is working away from the top position though.

Sunday is defending against the submission attempts here by Can.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sunday tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Can has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Sunday is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Can looking to ground and pound but Sunday is blocking nicely.
Sunday holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Can tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Sunday is looking to get to half guard.
Sunday blocking the ground and pound.
Sunday tries to lock up and control but Can gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Sunday is trying desperately to improve position.
Can thowing shots but they're missing.
Sunday keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sunday can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sunday wants to control but Can is having none of it.

Can is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Sunday is surviving well by controlling Can's body position as best he can.
Can thowing shots but they're missing.
Can prevents Sunday from getting the reversal.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sunday tries to lock up and control but Can gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Can working for a guillotine from mount but Sunday is in no mood to give up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Can has hold of Sunday's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Sunday manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tom Can dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Sunday shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sunday was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Sunday lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Can down.
Can is not content to let Sunday control the position.
Can is looking for a sweep.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Can regains half guard.
Sunday lands strikes from half guard.
Sunday tries to pass the half guard into mount. Can knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Can is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Sunday scores with a couple of nice shots.
Sunday is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Sunday is nestled in close to Can, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sunday lands a nice short elbow.


Can is rocked!
Sunday working over Can with some ground and pound. Can looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Oh Can is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sunday trying to control from half guard but Can is working away.

Can actively working from the bottom here.
Sunday sitting in half guard here. He lands a big elbow that has hurt Can! Oh, Can is in big trouble! Sunday lands more strikes and the ref dives in to save him! The fight is over!
