Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Edgar (ranked 5465 p4p, 467 weight class) and Renilio Gracie Slaughter (ranked 3371 p4p, 326 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie Slaughter tries to close the distance and clinch up but Edgar swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Edgar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gracie Slaughter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gracie Slaughter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Edgar had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gracie Slaughter defends it easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Edgar is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Gracie Slaughter has his hands clasped together but Edgar extends and breaks Gracie Slaughter's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Edgar.

After winning the bout, Frankie Edgar thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
