Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tony Fry (ranked 2456 p4p, 300 weight class) and Michael Carter (ranked 1149 p4p, 152 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Carter!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Ryoma Takatsuka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Fry.
Fry misses with an uppercut. Carter saw that one coming.
Carter swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Fry with a poor takedown
and Carter counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

It looks like Tony Fry has been cut.
Carter throws a nice looking combination but Fry bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Fry attempts a counter takedown but Carter avoids it well and moves away.
A low kick from Fry is predictable there
and Carter counters with a right hand to the body.
Carter scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Fry.
Carter jabs Fry to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Fry throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Fry takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Carter ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Donk. Carter catches Fry right on the button with a cross.

Carter lands a big uppercut and Fry crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Fry looks OK. Carter waves Fry back to his feet!

Fry is rocked!

Tony Fry's cut is getting worse.
We've been told by Fry's head coaches at The Zoo that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carter lands with a good body shot.
A decent looking cross lands there for Carter.
Oh Fry is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fry swinging wildly here.
Fry seems to have got his legs back now.

Carter cracks Fry with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Carter has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Fry to stand back up!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Fry will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Carter blocks a jab.
Michael Carter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Tony Fry's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Fry misses with a hook. Carter ducked under it nicely.
Carter dances in with a quick combination. Fry is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Carter snaps Fry's head back. Fry stumbles backwards against the cage. Carter steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Fry's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Fry just didn't come prepared.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Michael Carter! Michael Carter retains his middleweight title!
Michael Carter decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
Tony Fry spoke after the fight, saying 'I thought Im Tony FRYguson. hahaha'.
