Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Sheedy (ranked 4998 p4p, 429 weight class) and Skylar Roberts (ranked 9074 p4p, 569 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Roberts's choice of entrance music: Audience Of One. Skylar Roberts has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kevin Sheedy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Skylar Roberts!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Lou da Vinci and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sheedy fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Roberts, pushing him back against the cage.
Roberts blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Roberts has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Sheedy regains guard immediately.
Roberts postures up and lands a big shot to Sheedy's brow.
Roberts cracks Sheedy with a solid left hand.
Sheedy wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Roberts is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Sheedy holds on and takes a little breather.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sheedy is controlling Roberts's posture.
Roberts postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Roberts wants to control from the top but Sheedy keeps moving.

Sheedy pulls Roberts in close to prevent any damage.
Sheedy can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Roberts controls the pace.
Roberts is fighting to break Sheedy's control of his arms but Sheedy is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Sheedy moves into the clinch successfully.

Roberts lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Sheedy is controlling Roberts's trapped leg to prevent Roberts from advancing to side control.
Roberts is looking to advance position but Sheedy won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Roberts seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Sheedy has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Roberts is looking for a kimura but Sheedy is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Roberts to get the leverage.

Sheedy is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Sheedy tries to roll over but Roberts keeps him under control.

Roberts sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Sheedy defending well though.

Roberts thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sheedy's head.
Roberts thows a huge punch but Sheedy dodges it nicely.

Roberts drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sheedy gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Sheedy is looking to control Roberts's arms but Roberts gets an underhook and turns him. Now Sheedy has his back to the cage.
Roberts can't get the takedown.
Sheedy misses with the head strike.
Sheedy misses with some punches.
Roberts blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Sheedy swings wildly with an uppercut but Roberts uses good head movement to avoid it.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Roberts pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sheedy lands with a good body shot.
Sheedy rushes Roberts and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Roberts is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Sheedy piles on the pressure and Roberts crumples to the floor! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kevin Sheedy!
