PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Robbie Perkins (ranked 6500 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sakad Petchiyindee (ranked 5307 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Perkins tries to clinch but Petchiyindee is having none of it.
Perkins fails in his attempt to clinch.
Petchiyindee plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Perkins swings for the body but Petchiyindee moves out of range.
It seemed like Petchiyindee was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Petchiyindee throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Perkins fails with an attempt to clinch.
Perkins shoots for a double leg takedown but Petchiyindee sprawls well. He's pushed Perkins's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Petchiyindee looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

and Petchiyindee counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Perkins really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Perkins content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Perkins jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Petchiyindee walks away with a smile on his face. Perkins gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Petchiyindee closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Perkins escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

A little jabbing left from Petchiyindee on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Petchiyindee swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Perkins tries to counter by clinching up but Petchiyindee breaks away and moves out of range.

Perkins dives in for a single leg takedown but Petchiyindee sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Despite the aggression on Petchiyindee's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

As Perkins backs off Petchiyindee throws a huge counter combo but Perkins manages to avoid it all.
