Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nicholas Cardenas (ranked 6494 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe James (ranked 5575 p4p, 0 weight class). James has chosen Last Resort as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Joe James will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James takes the fight into the clinch.
Cardenas tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. James just stands there and leans against the cage.

James is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Cardenas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

James is pulling down on Cardenas's head. It's preventing any offense from Cardenas, at least for the moment.
Let's hope that James has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

James closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Cardenas did well to prevent James getting side control.

James is nestled in close to Cardenas, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

James is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cardenas is just riding it out for now. James eventually gives up the hold.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Cardenas is trying to force a seperation but James has the dominant position.
James is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Cardenas jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as James walks away with a smile on his face. Cardenas gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

James moves into range and clinches up with Cardenas.
Cardenas tries to pull guard but James holds him up against the cage and eventually Cardenas drops back down to his feet.

James walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Cardenas checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
James throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

James is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with James in particular looking to stall.
Nicholas Cardenas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Joe James is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well James has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
