PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jako Biako (ranked 6445 p4p, 0 weight class) and Niels Pepijn (ranked 6336 p4p, 0 weight class). Pepijn has chosen Not Afraid by Eminem as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pepijn throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Biako was covering up waiting for the punch and Pepijn finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Biako is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Biako is trying to break the clinch but Pepijn is controlling him.
Biako wants to get back to striking at distance but Pepijn won't allow it.
Biako is trying to force a seperation but Pepijn has the dominant position.
Pepijn is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Biako to keep the fight standing.
Pepijn is trying to pull guard but Biako turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Biako managing to block the knees to the body from Pepijn.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Biako creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Biako wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Pepijn keeps control of Biako as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Pepijn tries to pull guard but Biako won't allow it.
Jako Biako has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Niels Pepijn.

Biako breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Biako throws a right and a left that Pepijn avoids nicely.

Pepijn fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Biako to the ground. Pepijn is now in Biako's guard.

Biako wriggles free and stands up.
Niels Pepijn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A looping hook to the body misses from Pepijn. Biako does a little dance to reset his feet.
It looked like Biako was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Biako fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pepijn with the counter takedown but Biako avoids it easily.
Biako scores with a nice strike.
Biako looks to land a combination but Pepijn avoids it well.
Pepijn is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Biako misses with a double jab.
Pepijn takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Pepijn looks winded!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pepijn shoots in looking for a takedown but Biako manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pepijn's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Biako lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Biako steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Pepijn.

and Biako counters with a straight right hand.

Oooooh!!! Biako has knocked Pepijn down with a huge combo! Biako steps away and waves a wobbly Pepijn back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Pepijn is rocked!
Biako lands with a big right hook that stumbles Pepijn - he's out on his feet here! Biako follows up with another monster hook that separates Pepijn from consciousness! Pepijn falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Biako stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
