PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Lukaszewicz (ranked 5009 p4p, 573 weight class) and Luca Conti (ranked 3138 p4p, 414 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Lukaszewicz might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Alter Bridge - Show me a leader. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Robert Lukaszewicz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Luca Conti!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Hirohito Nitta and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Conti gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Lukaszewicz looking to throw knees to the head but Conti is blocking nicely.
Lukaszewicz takes an elbow to the forehead.


It looks like Robert Lukaszewicz has been cut.

Conti wants to take the fight to the mat but Lukaszewicz manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Lukaszewicz has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Conti changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lukaszewicz fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Lukaszewicz throws a right and a left that Conti avoids nicely.
Lukaszewicz does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Conti counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lukaszewicz won't be happy with that.

Lukaszewicz looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Conti misses with a combination
letting Lukaszewicz counter with a right hand.
Conti dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Conti throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lukaszewicz throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Conti rushes Lukaszewicz and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Lukaszewicz jumps guard but Conti stands there with Lukaszewicz around his waist. Lukaszewicz gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Conti makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Lukaszewicz wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Conti has him pressed against the cage.

Conti creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Lukaszewicz's defenses.


Robert Lukaszewicz's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Lukaszewicz is trying to push Conti away but Conti has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Conti obliges.

Conti stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Jeez, Robert Lukaszewicz's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

Conti has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Lukaszewicz is trying to keep an underhook but Conti manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Conti content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Lukaszewicz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Conti lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Conti wants to free his trapped foot but Lukaszewicz is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Conti takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Conti working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

Conti slows the pace down in half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Conti is trying to control. Lukaszewicz wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Lukaszewicz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Conti on the ground.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Conti has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
