Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Teddy Sampson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, James Durham!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, William Gold and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Durham lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Durham closes the distance and clinches up with Sampson, looking for a takedown. Durham pushes Sampson against the cage but Sampson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Durham is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Durham misses with a double jab.

Durham closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Durham lands in his opponent's guard.
Sampson wants to stand but Durham is controlling the position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Durham is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Durham tries to control Sampson's body but Sampson pushes him off. Durham squirms to his side and now Sampson has his back!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Sampson has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Durham has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round but I would say that Teddy Sampson will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Durham landing rabbit punches to the side of Sampson's head. Not doing much damage but still scoring a few points.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Durham can do anything to dispel that myth.
Durham is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That was a close second round but I would say that Teddy Sampson will probably get the nod.

Durham must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

I really don't envy Durham right now.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sampson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
