Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Monson Gleaves (ranked 6064 p4p, 658 weight class) and Tom Green (ranked 8659 p4p, 760 weight class). Gleaves comes into the arena with Somebody I Used To Know blaring out of the sound system. Monson Gleaves has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Monson Gleaves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tom Green!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gleaves.
Gleaves wants to clinch up but Green keeps it at a distance.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gleaves.
Green tries to counter with a clinch but Gleaves shakes him off and moves away.
Gleaves fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Green is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Monson Gleaves. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gleaves shoots in but no luck this time.
Gleaves shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Green sprawls well. Green wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gleaves gets slowly back to his feet.
Green keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gleaves bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Green's guard.

We've been hearing that Gleaves has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Green is looking to stand up but Gleaves isn't so interested in that idea.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Green can do anything to dispel that myth.
Gleaves in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Green is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gleaves is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gleaves is pushing down on Green's leg trying to pass to half guard. Green is fighting to maintain full guard but Gleaves has managed to sneak the leg through.

Gleaves is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Green looks like he's trying to stand up.

Gleaves is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Green is just riding it out for now. Gleaves eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gleaves is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Green has managed to free his arm - good work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gleaves prevents Green from standing back up.

Green is defending against the submission attempts here by Gleaves.
Gleaves stops Green from getting back to his feet.

Gleaves is looking for a kimura but Green is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gleaves to get the leverage.
Green is looking to escape.
Green tries to kick Gleaves off in order to stand up. Gleaves Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Green is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Gleaves asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Green really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gleaves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gleaves working the head and body with strikes.
Green is trying to buck Gleaves off.
Gleaves throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Green pushes Gleaves away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Gleaves gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Gleaves tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gleaves has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Gleaves is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Green is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Gleaves is working Green over with some ground and pound from side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tom Green will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Gleaves changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Green tries to avoid it but Gleaves manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Green to the ground. Green escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Green throws a counter combo.
Green throws a head kick that misses.
Green lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Green knocks Gleaves to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Green connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Gleaves some visible discomfort.


Gleaves is rocked!
Green in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Gleaves looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Green turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tom Green!
