Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leon Montana (ranked 386 p4p, 58 weight class) and Rickson Moura (ranked 561 p4p, 78 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Moura's choice of entrance music: Rickson Moura Entrance Song. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Leon Montana!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rickson Moura!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Chris Edwards and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moura cracks Montana with an open hand slap.
Rickson Moura seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Moura shoots in for a double leg but Montana sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Montana appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Moura swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Montana stuffs the takedown attempt from Moura. Moura gets slowly back to his feet.
Moura looks for a takedown but Montana sprawls well.
Leon Montana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rickson Moura.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A shot to the liver by Moura. Beautiful body shot.

Montana takes a body punch but keeps moving.
The fighters circling - Moura throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

enabling Montana to counter with a crisp jab.

Moura shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Montana counters with a body kick that stops Moura in his tracks momentarily.

Moura shoots in looking for a takedown but Montana manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Moura's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
It appears Montana was looking to counter with a kick there.
Moura misses with a wild body shot.
Moura digs a good hook to Montana's body.
Montana keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A little feinted left hand from Montana on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Moura fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Montana on the side of the head.
Moura dives in for a single leg takedown but Montana sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

It looked like Montana wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Montana slaps away a takedown attempt from Moura, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Moura jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Montana on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Moura bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Montana's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rickson Moura dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


The crowd cheers as Moura lands an impressive looking overhand right. Montana doesn't seem phased though.

Moura is nestled in close to Montana, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Moura is keen to just control but Montana is a slippery customer.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Montana has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Moura is working away from the top position though.
Moura prevents Montana from improving his position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Nice uppercut lands for Moura. That snapped Montana's head back.
Montana avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Moura just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromMontana.
Leon Montana is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Moura throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Moura closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Montana knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Moura on the ground.

Moura is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Montana is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Moura in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Montana tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Moura wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Rickson Moura showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Moura has taken the fight to the clinch.
Montana lands a right hand that snaps the head of Moura backwards.
Montana stops a takedown attempt from Moura.

Moura has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Montana uses from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Montana takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Moura is looking for a sweep. Montana is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Moura has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Montana defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Moura.
Leon Montana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rickson Moura.
Moura scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Montana doesn't seem bothered though.
Moura tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Montana defends well and Moura ends up having to push Montana into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Leon Montana.
Well Moura has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
