PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jim Jims (ranked 5191 p4p, 238 weight class) and Wesley Perkins (ranked 4372 p4p, 204 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perkins closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jims circles away.
Horrible takedown attempt by Perkins or perhaps it was just good defense by Jims, which made it look bad.

Perkins gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jims to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Jims trying to control the position from guard on top but Perkins is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Perkins wants to control the position but Jims says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Jims trying to pass the guard but Perkins defending well.

Perkins has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jims is working away from the top position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Perkins wants to control but Jims is having none of it.

Perkins stops Jims from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Jims swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Perkins is now in Jims's guard. A big mistake from Jims there, giving up the dominant position!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
