PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Warley Alvez (ranked 3378 p4p, 388 weight class) and Matt Griffin (ranked 23262 p4p, 677 weight class). Alvez comes to the cage accompanied by NYSNC`-POP. On his way into the cage it seems that Warley Alvez has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Warley Alvez seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvez swats away the attempt to clinch by Griffin.
Griffin takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Griffin misses with a looping left.
Left hook, right uppercut from Alvez.
Alvez fakes the leg kick and cracks Griffin in the body.
Alvez lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Alvez scores with a head kick. Griffin tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Alvez bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Griffin! He dives into his guard looking to finish!

Griffin is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Alvez passes Griffin's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Griffin wants to improve his position but Alvez is controlling well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Alvez scores with a one two! Griffin had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Alvez gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Griffin to score an easy takedown into full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Griffin postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Alvez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Griffin, into his guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Alvez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Griffin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Alvez has managed to get both his arms back between Griffin's legs - danger averted.
Alvez's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Alvez wants to control from the top but Griffin keeps moving.

Griffin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Alvez is aware though and is defending well.
