Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
41 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luke Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jason Tanner!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Tanner to score with a decent uppercut.
It looks like Luke Johnson has been cut.
Johnson throws a body shot but no joy.
Tanner lands with a right hand.
Tanner scores with a leg kick.
Tanner swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Tanner cracks the inside of Johnson's front leg.
A combination from Tanner does no damage.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tanner sprawls well. Tanner wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet.
Tanner scores with a nice head shot.
Johnson keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Tanner.
Tanner moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tanner throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Johnson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Tanner shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Tanner digs a good body shot into Johnson's ribs.
Tanner keeps the fight on the outside.
Tanner throws the kick towards the body but Johnson avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
A jab lands there for Tanner.
Johnson does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Tanner thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Johnson if he has to take too many more of those.
Johnson is breathing heavily.
Tanner stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Tanner wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luke Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Johnson fails to land the takedown.
Tanner throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Tanner delivers a nice body kick.
Johnson gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Tanner.
Johnson is rocked!
Tanner weaves into range and cracks Johnson right on the temple with a beautiful overhand right! Johnson goes down! He's out cold! Wow, what a beautiful knockout! Tanner is strutting round the canvas like a movie star as the camera bulbs flash frantically.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jason Tanner!
An out of breath Jason Tanner thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
