PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between William King (ranked 797 p4p, 94 weight class) and Wladyslaw Raginis (ranked 1050 p4p, 123 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think King might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Summer Sixteen By: Drake. Wladyslaw Raginis acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 17 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, William King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Wladyslaw Raginis!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raginis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? King is fending him off so far but Raginis persists. Nope, King circles away and we're back to standing.
King fakes the leg kick and cracks Raginis in the body.
Raginis throws an ugly left hook that misses
and King counters with a lovely shot to the body.
King throws a nice inside leg kick.
King throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
King tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Raginis was well out of range. Poor timing from King.
Raginis misses with a low kick.
Raginis stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from King.
Good work by King as he checks the leg kick.
Raginis throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and King counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Raginis tries to clinch there but King circles away.
King blocks a head kick by Raginis.
Raginis looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Raginis shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. King manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Raginis being controlled here momentarily.
Raginis throws an elbow that misses. King uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Raginis's guard. Nice move by King!

Raginis controls King momentarily but King frees himself.

Raginis looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Raginis looking for a guillotine here but King defends easily.
King postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Raginis tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
King seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
King wants to pass the guard but Raginis is keeping the position.
Raginis looking for a sweep. Not yet Raginis, not yet.
Raginis looking to control but King passes into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
King frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Raginis wants to hold on but King pushes him away.
Raginis is desperately trying to improve his position but King has a good base and remains in mount.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, King cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Raginis can't escape the position.
King content just to control the position here.
Raginis keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
King can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Raginis is looking to escape.
King controlling from the full mount.
Raginis regains half guard.

Raginis is trying to get back to full guard.
King is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Raginis wants to get back to full guard.
King perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
King trying to control from half guard but Raginis is working away.
Raginis tries to roll over but King keeps him under control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A nice leg kick lands there from King.
Raginis shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with King but King pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Raginis takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Raginis throws the left hand but King avoids the punch easily.
King is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Raginis can do to turn this around?
King closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
King misses the shot to the body.
King takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Raginis fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
King connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.


It looks like Wladyslaw Raginis has been cut.
Raginis tries to clinch but King moves out of range.
Raginis has his takedown stuffed
and King counters with a low kick, right behind Raginis 's knee.
King looks to score with a jab to the body but Raginis is just out of range.
Raginis on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
King thumps Raginis with a low kick.

The fight stays on the outside here - Raginis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
King connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
King scores with a nice head shot.
King throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
King comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
King is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Raginis ducks right into an uppercut from King.
Raginis shoots in looking for a takedown but King manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Raginis's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
King half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
William King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wladyslaw Raginis.
King goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Raginis moves into the clinch successfully.
Raginis drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
King misses with a body punch.
Raginis tries a body shot but King blocks it.
King is working Raginis over against the cage.

Raginis is trying to control the action in half guard but King is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
King has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

King makes his way to full guard. A much better position for King.
King looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Raginis postures up in King's guard and throws a big left but King blocks it.
King is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Raginis wants to control but King is keeping busy.
Raginis wants to improve his position but King is controlling well.
William King overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
King is looking to take a break and control but Raginis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Raginis is looking for a sweep. King is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Raginis is still trying to improve position.
King is looking to advance position but Raginis won't allow it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
King sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Raginis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Raginis wants to control but King is keeping busy and won't allow it.
King content to control rather than advance.
Raginis is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of King's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take King's back!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Raginis tries to clinch up but King circles away and keeps his distance.

Both fighters circling a little - King finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
King moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Raginis fails with the takedown.
Raginis throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
It looked like King wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Raginis takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
King's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and King duly obliges.
Raginis moves in looking to clinch but King pushes him off.
King lands a jab to the head.
King lands a leg kick that knocks Raginis off balance momentarily.
Raginis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
King feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Raginis's calf.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
King feints and then cracks Raginis's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Raginis down.
Raginis lands a nice hook to King's body. King takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Raginis tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but King defends well and Raginis ends up having to push King into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Raginis moves forwards but King connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Raginis takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Raginis looks for the body kick but King saw that one coming.
King throws a counter high kick but Raginis was just alert enough to avoid it.
Raginis's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Raginis takes one on the button.
Raginis takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Raginis throws a jab but it's blocked by King.
As Raginis backs away, King returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Raginis darts in looking for a takedown but King gets double underhooks and turns Raginis into the cage.
William King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wladyslaw Raginis.
Raginis takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
King scores with a body shot.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Raginis crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from King - the referee stops the clock and Raginis gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says King. Raginis manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
King thows a body kick. Raginis tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Raginis on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by King. King obviously looking to wear him down.
William King is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by King.
Raginis closes this distance looking for a takedown but King circles away.
A little feinted left hand from King on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
King fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.


That has opened up Wladyslaw Raginis's cut even more.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
King scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
A solid leg kick lands there for King.
William King is winning the standup battle so far.
King throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

King lands a head kick!
Raginis doesn't succeed with the takedown
and King counters with a slapping leg kick.
King lands with a slapping head kick.
William King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
King throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


Raginis is rocked!
King moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Raginis is still on wobbly legs! Can King finish him?
and King counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Raginis! He's just covering up as King starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). William King!
William King was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
