Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Assassin Wren (ranked 9719 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Chan (ranked 6195 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Assassin Wren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jason Chan!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Daniel Franklin and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chan lands with a kick to the ribs.
Chan lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Wren punishes Chan's body with a nice straight punch.
Jason Chan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chan uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Wren has time to react.
Wren darts in looking for a takedown but Chan gets double underhooks and turns Wren into the cage.
A combination from Wren does no damage.

Wren gets tackled into the cage by Chan. Chan maintains the clinch.
Chan comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Wren stalling in the clinch but Chan improves position.
Chan lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Chan takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Chan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A head kick from Chan lands but Wren takes it in his stride.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Chan slaps away a takedown attempt from Wren, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Wren ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Chan tries to bum rush Wren with a series of wild strikes but Wren uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Wren changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Chan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Chan is not content to let Wren control the position.
You can see the frustration on Chan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Chan avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Wren.

Wren is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Chan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Chan sneaks out the side door and pushes Wren away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Chan lands with a kick to the ribs.

Wren gets tackled into the cage by Chan. Chan maintains the clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Chan fails to land.

Chan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Chan looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Chan throws a right hand that Wren ducks under and follows up with a left that Wren also avoids with ease.

Chan moves into the clinch successfully.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
A knee to the head by Chan.

Chan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Chan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Wren, pushing him back against the cage.
Wren looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Chan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chan turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
A slow jab from Chan misses its intended target.
Wren avoids the head kick by Chan.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wren jabs Chan right on the nose. Chan blinks but takes it well.
Wren avoids a kick to the body.
No joy there for Chan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Chan fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Wren.
Chan fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Wren on the side of the head.
Wren tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Chan defends well and Wren ends up having to push Chan into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Assassin Wren. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wren fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Chan clinches up with Wren and pushes him back against the cage.
Wren avoids the elbow strike from Chan, against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Chan dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Crunch! Chan slams his shin into Wren's torso.
Wren moves in looking to clinch but Chan pushes him off.
Chan lunges at Wren with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Wren's hand.
Chan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Wren fails to land the takedown.

Chan closes the distance and clinches.
A short left from Chan.

Wren jumps guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chan throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wren works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Wren has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Wren wants to stand but Chan is controlling the position.
Chan content to stall in guard here.

Chan makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Wren is working an open guard so Chan takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
A nice combination there by Chan.
Wren is trying hard to land a takedown here. Chan sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
A left and a right from Chan both land. Nice combination.

Chan moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Chan scoring well with a low kick there.
Chan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
As Chan tries to get set, Wren tries to push him back and clinch up but Chan manages to avoid the attempt.

Chan has taken the fight to the clinch.
Wren misses with a body punch.
Wren misses with a knee to the head.
Wren stalling the fight.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Chan.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Chan wants a takedown but no success here.
Chan lands an elbow just above Wren 's eye.

Chan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Wren tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Chan defends well and Wren ends up having to push Chan into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Chan throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Chan moves into the clinch.

Chan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A chopping leg kick lands by Chan.
Wren takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Chan closes the distance and clinches.
Wren is looking to take this one to the mat.
Chan is stalling here.
Chan connects with a nasty looking knee right to Wren's face.

Wren is fighting off a takedown attempt but Chan is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Wren to the mat. Wren regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Chan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Wren can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Chan controls the pace.
Wren manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Chan manages to get himself to full guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Chan wants to stand but Wren is controlling the position.
Chan has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Wren stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Chan looking for a sweep. Not yet Chan, not yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Chan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Wren changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Chan tries to avoid it but Wren manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Chan to the ground. Chan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Chan takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Wren gets tackled into the cage by Chan. Chan maintains the clinch.
Chan creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Wren's defenses.
Wren fails to pull guard.
Chan stops a takedown attempt from Wren.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Assassin Wren. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Chan has Wren pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Chan pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Wren tumbling to the mat - Chan dives into Wren's guard.

Wren has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Chan off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wren shoots in for a double leg but Chan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Chan tries to counter with a clinch but Wren shakes him off and moves away.
Chan scores with a head kick. Wren tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

No joy there for Chan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Assassin Wren is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A combination from Chan does no damage.
Wren will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.
Wren takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Chan throws a nice head kick!
Chan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wren but Wren pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Wren attempts a counter takedown but Chan avoids it well and moves away.
A nice combination there by Wren.
Wren tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Chan paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Chan throws a jab when Wren was well out of range.
Chan stuffs the takedown attempt from Wren. Wren gets slowly back to his feet.
Chan keeps Wren at a distance using the push kick.

Wren takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Chan cracks the inside of Wren's front leg.
Chan throws a leg kick which misses Wren's front leg but catches the back leg as Wren tries to avoid it.

Chan has taken the fight to the clinch.
Chan lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Wren is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Chan is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Chan lands a right hand that snaps the head of Wren backwards.
Wren tries to pull guard but Chan holds him up against the cage and eventually Wren drops back down to his feet.
Wren fails to pull guard.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Chan obliges.

Wren is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Chan is defending well.
Chan prevents the takedown attempt.
Wren wants to break the clinch but can't.

Chan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wren takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Chan scores with a head kick.
Wren shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Chan defends it nicely.
Chan throws a fast counter high kick but Wren manages to duck under it in time.

Chan has taken the fight to the clinch.

Jason Chan is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Chan is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

Chan has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Wren regains guard immediately.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Wren manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Wren jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Chan walks away with a smile on his face. Wren gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
A jab from Chan finds it's way through Wren's defenses.
Wren takes a kick to the side of the head.
Wren swinging wildly here.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jason Chan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Chan winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
