The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lizotte scores with a jab.
Lizotte dips to his left and cracks Downem with an uppercut!
Downem tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lizotte swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Stephan Lizotte seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lizotte scores with a body shot.
Downem takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Downem fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lizotte avoids it really well and circles away.
Lizotte was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Downem takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Downem.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A chopping leg kick lands by Lizotte.
Downem dives in and grabs Lizotte's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lizotte pushes down on Downem's head and hops out.
Stephan Lizotte has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Takem Downem.
Downem throws a nice looking combination but Lizotte bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Downem moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Downem is rocked!

It looks like Takem Downem has been cut.

Downem has closed the distance and engaged Lizotte in a clinch.
Downem is still on wobbly legs! Can Lizotte finish him?
Lizotte lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Downem backwards.
Lizotte scores with a shoulder strike.
Lizotte digs a right hand into Downem's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Downem's gas tank.

Downem seems to have recovered his senses.
Downem has Lizotte pulled in close to control his posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Lizotte lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Lizotte.
Lizotte throws a good cross that connects.
Downem darts in looking for a takedown but Lizotte gets double underhooks and turns Downem into the cage.
Lizotte lands a nice shot to the body.
Lizotte lands a nice hook to Downem's body. Downem takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Downem on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Lizotte connects with a leg kick. Downem looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Downem takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Lizotte keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Downem doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Downem takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Downem takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Lizotte lands with a shot to the body.
Lizotte scores with a leg kick.
Lizotte works the jab nicely.
Lizotte fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Downem has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Downem's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Lizotte goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Lizotte cracks Downem with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Downem falls to his knees and Lizotte doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
