Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ant McMeany!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for McMeany, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Mitchell cracks McMeany with an open hand slap.
McMeany swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Some wild striking there from McMeany.
McMeany throws a head kick but Mitchell moves out of range.
Nice body kick there by Mitchell.
Mitchell swats away the attempt to clinch by McMeany.
McMeany throws a right and a left that Mitchell avoids nicely.
Mitchell is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from McMeany.
Mitchell connects with a nice looking jab.
Mitchell shoots in for a takedown but McMeany shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
McMeany works over Mitchell's head and body with a nice combination.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mitchell has a takedown stuffed.
McMeany throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mitchell.

McMeany keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
McMeany misses with a few strikes there.
Mitchell slips a jab and a cross from McMeany.
McMeany throws a nice looking combination but Mitchell bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Mitchell misses with a head kick.
McMeany lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
McMeany tries to bum rush Mitchell with a series of wild strikes but Mitchell uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Mitchell takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

McMeany shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than McMeany was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

McMeany sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Mitchell is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Mitchell gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

McMeany working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

McMeany slips a nice elbow through Mitchell's hands, connecting with Mitchell's forehead.
McMeany wants to control but Mitchell is keeping him busy.

McMeany takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
McMeany lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

McMeany is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Mitchell has managed to free his arm - good work.

McMeany is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Mitchell wants to improve his position but McMeany is controlling well.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
McMeany trying to control the pace.
McMeany slips a nice elbow through Mitchell's hands, connecting with Mitchell's forehead.
McMeany wants to free his trapped foot but Mitchell is holding on for dear life with his legs.

McMeany is working for a kimura but Mitchell is defending it quite comfortably.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Mitchell is pressing down on McMeany's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
McMeany wants to control from the top but Mitchell keeps moving.

Mitchell has his foot on McMeany's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McMeany works his way back into a safe position though.

Mitchell is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


A jab lands there for McMeany.
Mitchell showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from McMeany.
McMeany misses with a series of wild punches.

McMeany shoots for a double leg takedown but Mitchell sprawls well. He's pushed McMeany's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
McMeany has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Mitchell fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. McMeany sprawls well initially but Mitchell persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mitchell connects with a nice short shot to McMeany's temple.
Mitchell wants to lay and pray for a moment but McMeany keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mitchell working over McMeany with some ground and pound. McMeany looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now McMeany is on top in guard.


Mitchell has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McMeany can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

McMeany looks up at the clock and then as Mitchell takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, McMeany smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Mitchell is trying to work for a sweep but McMeany has mounted him!

Mitchell is in a horrible position here. McMeany smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

McMeany fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!


Mitchell is rocked!

McMeany cracks Mitchell with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Oh Mitchell is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
McMeany lands a big elbow - Mitchell is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Mitchell is forced to tap out!
