Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alfred Carver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Patrick Williams!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Carver swivels and escapes.

Williams defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Carver.
Williams shoots in looking for a takedown. Carver tries to sprawl out of it but Williams keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carver manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Carver went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Alfred Carver has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Williams.

Patrick Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Williams jumps guard and drags Carver to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Carver won't allow Williams to sweep him here.
Carver could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Williams escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carver gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Williams is looking to stand up but Carver isn't so interested in that idea.
Carver's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Williams wants to stand and escape but Carver is having none of it.
Williams is pulling down on Carver's head to control his posture.

Williams has his foot on Carver's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carver works his way back into a safe position though.
Williams is trying to control the position but Carver postures up.
Williams is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Carver is controlling him.
Williams bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Carver's guard.

Williams is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Carver wants to get back to his feet but Williams is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Carver wants to control from the top but Williams keeps moving.

We've been informed that Williams has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carver moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Williams is just content to waste time from the top position. Carver takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Let's hope that Williams has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Carver is trying to control the position but Williams postures up.
Williams slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Carver is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Williams drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Williams jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Williams postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Carver covers up, he's hurt! Williams keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Williams and the ref steps in to end the fight! Williams can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Patrick Williams!
After winning the bout, Patrick Williams thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
