And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bobby Burns!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, David Schapiro and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns tests Rangel's chin there with a solid looking shot.


It looks like David Rangel has been cut.
Rangel shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Burns misses with a straight left.
Rangel changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Burns lands with a straight right. Rangel didn't see that one coming.
Rangel gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Burns.
Rangel displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Burns throws out the jab.
Rangel feinted with a counter takedown.
Bobby Burns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Burns connects with an inside leg kick.
Burns misses with a body shot.

Rangel closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rangel lands in his opponent's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rangel distracts Burns with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Rangel lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Burns has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Rangel is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Burns breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Rangel looks for a takedown but Burns sprawls well.

Good standup being displayed there by Burns as he connects with a hook.

and Rangel decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Burns's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Burns seems keen to control Rangel's posture.
Rangel throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Burns works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Rangel has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Burns holds on and takes a little breather.

Burns can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rangel controls the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

David Rangel overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Burns lands a jab to the nose.
Burns misses with a right hand

and Rangel counters with a nice double leg into side control. Burns won't be happy with that.

Burns bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Burns lands with an uppercut that bounces Rangel off the cage and back into range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Burns stuffs the takedown attempt from Rangel. Rangel gets slowly back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Burns lands an overhand right.
Burns connects with a solid leg kick.
Burns catches Rangel with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Burns scores with a crisp jab that stopped Rangel in his tracks.
Rangel walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Burns paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Burns cracks Rangel with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Rangel looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Burns finish him?


Rangel is rocked!
Burns has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Rangel drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Oh Rangel is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Bobby Burns seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Nice uppercut there from Burns.
Rangel seems to have got his legs back now.
Rangel closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Burns drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Rangel right on the button. Rangel goes down! Burns follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Burns gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bobby Burns!
A relieved looking Bobby Burns thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
