PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Garth Brennan (ranked 24563 p4p, 0 weight class) and Psycho Sid (ranked 6141 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brennan has managed to clinch.

Sid breaks from the clinch.
Brennan closes the distance looking to clinch
and Sid counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Brennan really is a fat lump.
Brennan takes one to the chin there.

Brennan moves into the clinch successfully.

Sid breaks the clinch.
Sid throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brennan's waist but Brennan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sid off to one side.
Brennan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sid swats him away and circles back towards the center.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brennan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sid throws a nice looking combination but Brennan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Brennan walks into a stiff left hand from Sid.

Brennan drives through and clinches with Sid against the cage.

Garth Brennan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Psycho Sid.
Brennan is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Brennan drags the fight down to the ground.
Brennan is looking to stand up but Sid isn't so interested in that idea.

Sid decides to stand back up. Sid steps back and let's Brennan get back to his feet.

Brennan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sid sprawls well initially but Brennan persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Sid pushes Brennan off and gets back to his feet.
Psycho Sid seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Brennan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sid, pushing him back against the cage.

Sid breaks the clinch.
Brennan doesn't manage to clinch there - Sid circles away.
Brennan closes the distance but Sid moves to the side
and Sid counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The fight stays on the outside here - Brennan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sid fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Brennan moves into the clinch.
Sid is trying to drag Brennan to the mat but Brennan just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Brennan stalls.

Sid escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Sid shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Brennan but Brennan pushes him off and we're back to square one.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Psycho Sid will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Sid.
Brennan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sid sprawls well. Sid wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Brennan gets slowly back to his feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sid is defended easily by Brennan.
As Sid tries to get set, Brennan tries to push him back and clinch up but Sid manages to avoid the attempt.
Brennan is looking to clinch but Sid is avoiding it.

Brennan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Sid has control of Brennan's left arm, preventing Brennan from doing any damage.

Sid shoots for a double leg takedown but Brennan sprawls well. He's pushed Sid's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Brennan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Brennan moves in looking to clinch but Sid pushes him off.
Brennan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sid paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sid lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Sid swats away the attempt to clinch by Brennan.
Sid shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brennan as he jumps to the side.
Brennan is looking to counter the offense by Sid and move into the clinch.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Brennan feints and as Sid raises his hands in defense, Brennan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sid is wriggling around but Brennan manages to pass to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Well, if Brennan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Sid is not content to let Brennan control the position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Garth Brennan will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Brennan wants to control from the top but Sid keeps moving.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Sid. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Brennan stands and steps away. Sid gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Brennan jumps guard but Sid stands there with Brennan around his waist. Brennan gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Brennan manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Sid rushes Brennan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Sid blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Sid wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Brennan tries to pull guard but Sid won't allow it.
Sid is trying to pull guard but Brennan has him pressed against the cage.

Sid gets control of Brennan's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sid will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sid tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Brennan lands a couple of digs.

Sid has his foot on Brennan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Brennan works his way back into a safe position though.

Psycho Sid comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
