Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Niels Pepijn (ranked 9256 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karlovecz David (ranked 6131 p4p, 0 weight class). Pepijn comes to the cage accompanied by Not Afraid by Eminem. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Niels Pepijn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Karlovecz David!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Wagner Zegers and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Pepijn.

Pepijn looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
David is not content to let Pepijn control the position.

Pepijn seems to be looking for submissions.
Pepijn prevents David from improving his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pepijn not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
David keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Pepijn is pressing down on David's thigh, looking to free his foot. David is holding on for now.
David wants to control but Pepijn is keeping busy and won't allow it.

David trying to hold on to Pepijn's head to control him but Pepijn postures up.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
David wants to control but Pepijn is keeping busy.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Pepijn throws a nice looking combination but David bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Pepijn is looking to clinch.
Pepijn is trying hard to land a takedown here. David sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
David plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
David tries for a takedown but Pepijn sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Pepijn lands a head kick. David smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Pepijn misses with a takedown attempt
and David cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Pepijn fails with an attempt to clinch.
David drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Pepijn defends it well.
Pepijn wants to clinch.

Pepijn is looking to clinch.
Horrible takedown attempt by David or perhaps it was just good defense by Pepijn, which made it look bad.

David closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
David jumps guard but Pepijn turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Niels Pepijn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Karlovecz David.
David is trying to drag Pepijn to the mat but Pepijn just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Pepijn tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
David fails to pull guard.

David escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pepijn shoots in looking for a takedown. David tries to sprawl out of it but Pepijn keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. David manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Despite the aggression on David's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Pepijn tries to keep at a distance but David has taken the fight into the clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
David wants a takedown but no success here.
Pepijn fails to pull guard.
Pepijn looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Niels Pepijn will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Pepijn throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around David's waist but David gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pepijn off to one side.
David swings for the body but Pepijn moves out of range.
David ducks under a wild hook from Pepijn.

David rushes Pepijn and presses him up against the cage.
Pepijn blocks a body shot from David.
Pepijn jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as David walks away with a smile on his face. Pepijn gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
David tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pepijn defends well and David ends up having to push Pepijn into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Pepijn stuffs the takedown.
Pepijn is looking to clinch.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as David holds on and takes a little breather.
David looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pepijn is one step ahead there.

Pepijn controls from within his opponent's guard.
Pepijn won't allow David to get back to his feet.

Pepijn decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Nice sprawl there from David as Pepijn shoots in.
David is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Pepijn dives in for a single leg takedown but David sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
David moves in looking to clinch but Pepijn pushes him off.

Pepijn fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but David avoids it really well and circles away.
Pepijn sets himself, and David steps forward looking for the clinch! Pepijn avoids it this time.

Pepijn tries to clinch but David moves out of range.
David shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Pepijn defends it nicely.

David moves into range and clinches up with Pepijn.

David will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
David tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pepijn paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Pepijn keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
David shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pepijn pinned against the cage. Pepijn gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The fight stays on the outside here - Pepijn looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

David displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pepijn.
David tries to counter with a clinch but Pepijn shakes him off and moves away.
Niels Pepijn is winning the standup battle so far.
Pepijn works over David's head and body with a nice combination.


It looks like Karlovecz David has been cut.
Pepijn misses with a head kick.
David fails with a takedown attempt.
Niels Pepijn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Karlovecz David.

David is pressed up against the cage. Pepijn has hold of a leg and is looking to drag David down to the mat. David avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

David moves into the clinch.

David breaks the clinch.
Niels Pepijn is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

David instigates a clinch.

Pepijn gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, David regains guard.

David has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Pepijn has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

David jumps guard and drags Pepijn to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Pepijn is fighting to break David's control of his arms but David is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Pepijn postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Pepijn forces his way into half guard.
Pepijn wants to take a breather but David is having none of it.
David tries to roll over but Pepijn keeps him under control.
David trying to hold on to Pepijn's head to control him but Pepijn postures up.
Niels Pepijn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pepijn wants to control but David is keeping him busy.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Pepijn scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Pepijn is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. David doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pepijn.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Karlovecz David.
I think David has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
