Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Iko Morrowind (ranked 2568 p4p, 256 weight class) and Oliver Taquses (ranked 1986 p4p, 214 weight class). Morrowind comes to the cage accompanied by The Foggy Dew. Iko Morrowind has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taquses doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Morrowind counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Taquses thinking.
Taquses tries to score a power double leg takedown but Morrowind sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Taquses somewhat.
Taquses fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Taquses has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Morrowind is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Iko Morrowind has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Oliver Taquses.
Horrible takedown attempt by Taquses or perhaps it was just good defense by Morrowind, which made it look bad.
Taquses misses with a takedown attempt - Morrowind sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No luck for Taquses with that takedown attempt.
Morrowind throws a big counter combination but Taquses scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Taquses looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Taquses doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Morrowind counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Morrowind tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Taquses was well out of range. Poor timing from Morrowind.
It seemed like Taquses was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Taquses shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Morrowind as he avoids it easily.

and Morrowind counters with a nice uppercut.
Taquses fails to land the takedown.
Morrowind throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Taquses stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Morrowind swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Taquses counters with a single leg into guard. Morrowind didn't expect that.

Morrowind is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Taquses presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Morrowind's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Taquses with a poor takedown
and Morrowind makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Morrowind stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Taquses shoots and misses
and Morrowind counters with a stiff right hand.

and Morrowind counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Taquses looks winded!
Morrowind throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Morrowind uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Morrowind catches Taquses with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Oliver Taquses seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Morrowind swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Taquses dives in for a single leg takedown but Morrowind sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
It looked like Morrowind was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Taquses.
Taquses blocks a jab.

Iko Morrowind is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Taquses is defended easily by Morrowind.
Morrowind tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Taquses was well out of range. Poor timing from Morrowind.

Morrowind gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Morrowind is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Taquses content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Morrowind has locked up a guillotine! Morrowind's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Taquses is holding on here and Morrowind must be using up a lot of energy. Taquses has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Morrowind gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Iko Morrowind decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
