Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adan Conner (ranked 6254 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joakim Matisson (ranked 9283 p4p, 0 weight class). Joakim Matisson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Matisson tries to keep at a distance but Conner has taken the fight into the clinch.

Matisson tightens his grip and picks Conner up, before dumping him to the ground. Conner manages to land in guard.
Matisson throws a big right hand that misses.
Conner is looking to stand up but Matisson isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Conner wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Matisson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Conner is keeping the position for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Conner pushes Matisson off and scrambles back to his feet.
No joy there for Matisson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Conner tries to land a front kick but Matisson steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Conner moves into the clinch successfully.

Matisson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Matisson has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Conner has passed into side control.

Conner decides to stand up, so the ref orders Matisson to his feet.

Conner moves into the clinch successfully.

Matisson is fighting off a takedown attempt but Conner is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Matisson to the mat. Matisson regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Conner gets to his feet. Matisson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Conner moves into the clinch.

Matisson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Conner uses from the top position.
Conner might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Conner stands up and waves to Matisson to follow him.

Matisson blocks a head kick by Conner.
Matisson moves out of range of the body kick.
A shot to the liver by Matisson. Beautiful body shot.
Conner takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Conner is breathing heavily.
Conner shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

It looks like Adan Conner has been cut.
Matisson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Conner fails to land the takedown.

Conner drives through and clinches with Matisson against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Matisson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Conner is defending well for now.
Matisson is trying to push Conner away but Conner has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Matisson stops a takedown attempt from Conner.

Conner ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Conner no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Conner can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Matisson controls the pace.
Conner could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Adan Conner will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Matisson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Conner's head backwards.
The fighters circle momentarily. Matisson darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
BOOM! Matisson lands a beautiful left hook that drops Conner. Conner tries to recover but Matisson is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Conner lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
