Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pedro Henrique (ranked 5005 p4p, 152 weight class) and Doug Welder (ranked 5821 p4p, 171 weight class). Doug Welder will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pedro Henrique!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Doug Welder!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Arvi Lind and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Welder closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Welder lands in his opponent's guard.
Henrique is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Welder presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Henrique's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Welder avoids a punch combination nicely.
Welder darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Henrique is looking to control Welder's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Henrique avoid being mounted?

Welder slips a nice elbow through Henrique's hands, connecting with Henrique's forehead.

Henrique is looking for a sweep. Welder is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Welder working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Henrique is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Welder's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Welder's back!
Welder wants to control his opponent's hands but Henrique gets his hands free.

You can see the frustration on Welder's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Welder really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Henrique. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We've been hearing good reports from Henrique's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
