Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sydney Vang (ranked 25099 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Alves (ranked 6298 p4p, 0 weight class). Sydney Vang has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sydney Vang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fernando Alves!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vang fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Alves on the side of the head.
Vang misses with a double jab.

Vang gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Alves is looking to break free of the clinch but Vang has double underhooks.
Alves has had enough of the clinch but Vang keeps him there for the moment.

Vang misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Alves.

Alves jumps guard.

Alves has an active guard here but Vang has managed to pass into half guard.
Vang knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alves on the ground.
Alves tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vang is nestled in close to Alves, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Alves is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Vang pulls his head out easily.

Vang is working for a kimura but Alves is defending it quite comfortably.
Vang really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Alves wants to get back to full guard but Vang has mounted him!
Alves wants to hold on but Vang pushes him away.

Vang has control of Alves's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Alves regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Alves bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Vang is trying to keep Alves in close.
Alves postures up in Vang's guard and throws a big left but Vang blocks it.

Alves wants to control from the top but Vang keeps moving.
Alves looking to sit in guard and control but Vang gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Vang is looking to work some ground and pound but Alves has wrist control.
Vang in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Alves wants to sweep but no luck.
Alves keeps trying to improve his position.
Vang is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Alves is trying to control the position but Vang postures up.
Alves looking to hit a scissor sweep but Vang is one step ahead there.
Alves trying to keep a closed guard but Vang is proving a slippery customer.

Alves isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Vang stacks Alves on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Vang!

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Vang wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alves keeps working.
Vang working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Alves looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Alves wants to take a breather but Vang is having none of it.
Alves not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Alves trying to pass the guard but Vang defending well.
Vang is trying to maintain the position but Alves is very close to passing his half guard.
Alves wants to control but Vang is keeping him busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vang holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Alves throwing shots but Vang is blocking nicely.
Vang is trying to maintain the position but Alves is very close to passing his half guard.
Alves is looking to stall here but Vang recovers full guard.
Vang will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Alves is looking to stand up but Vang won't let him.
Alves loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Alves wants to pass the guard but Vang is keeping the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Vang controlling the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Alves showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Vang.
Alves tries to counter with a clinch but Vang shakes him off and moves away.

Alves dives in and scores a takedown into Vang's guard.

Alves missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Alves drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Vang dives on top into guard.

Alves is breathing heavily.

Alves is looking to cinch up a triangle. Vang throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Alves's body to avoid the submission. Alves has instead reached around Vang's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Alves arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Fernando Alves!
During a confident post fight interview, Fernando Alves thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
