The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sargent clinches up against the cage.
Nice body punch from Eldritch - that landed with a thud.
Sargent has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Eldritch is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Sargent tries to pull guard but Eldritch won't allow it.

Eldritch breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Eldritch is looking to clinch.
Eldritch misses with a combination
and Sargent makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Eldritch tries to clinch but Sargent moves out of range.
Eldritch throws a sloppy head kick and Sargent moves out of range easily.

Eldritch looks to land a combination but Sargent avoids it well.
Palmer Eldritch is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Sargent is looking to clinch.

Eldritch gets tackled into the cage by Sargent. Sargent maintains the clinch.
Sargent has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Eldritch after a bit of a struggle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Asa Sargent. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Eldritch breaks the clinch.
Eldritch keeps the fight on the outside.
Eldritch is looking for the big counter here.
Eldritch throws a series of punches but Sargent moves out of range.

Eldritch closes the distance and pushes Sargent back into the cage.
Eldritch lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Sargent pulls guard effortlessly.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Eldritch has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sargent is proving hard to escape from.

Eldritch trying to control but Sargent is working from the bottom.
Eldritch throws a strike but Sargent rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Eldritch seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Sargent seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Sargent will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Eldritch is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Eldritch wants to control the position but Sargent says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Eldritch is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Sargent controlling the pace.
Eldritch trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Eldritch trying desperately to get to his feet.
Sargent sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
We've been informed that Eldritch has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Sargent really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Eldritch gets back to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Eldritch looking for submissions off his back.
Sargent performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Asa Sargent will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Eldritch throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
It looked like Sargent was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Eldritch.
Eldritch's corner calls for a 1-2. Eldritch obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Sargent is rocked!

It looks like Asa Sargent has been cut.
Asa Sargent is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Eldritch closes the distance and pushes Sargent back into the cage.
Oh Sargent is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Eldritch lands a body punch in the clinch.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Eldritch.
Eldritch creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Sargent with a big uppercut! Sargent tries to clinch up but Eldritch pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Sargent to the mat! Sargent covers up and Eldritch unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
