Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Van Carey (ranked 25004 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kilim Brutal (ranked 8032 p4p, 0 weight class). Kilim Brutal is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Van Carey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kilim Brutal!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carey tries for a takedown but Brutal sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Brutal looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Brutal gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Brutal with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Carey has Brutal pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Carey pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Brutal tumbling to the mat - Carey dives into Brutal's guard.
Brutal is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Brutal wants to stand and escape but Carey is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brutal preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Carey could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Brutal is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Carey is controlling him.

Carey throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Brutal works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Carey fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Brutal tries to counter with a clinch but Carey shakes him off and moves away.

Carey turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Brutal tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Carey wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Carey wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Brutal, who protects the arm well.

Carey is trying to get an arm triangle but Brutal is defending well.
Carey has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Carey looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Carey is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Brutal is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Carey is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Brutal has escaped the position, nice work there.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Brutal wants to control but Carey postures up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Carey is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Brutal knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Van Carey dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Brutal displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Carey.
Brutal tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Carey paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Brutal throws a leg kick but Carey sees it coming and moves out of range.
Kilim Brutal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horrible takedown attempt by Carey or perhaps it was just good defense by Brutal, which made it look bad.
Carey is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Brutal can do to turn this around?
Brutal tries to clinch up but Carey circles away and keeps his distance.

Carey has had enough of the clinch but Brutal keeps him there for the moment.

Carey throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Brutal stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carey swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carey escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Brutal gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Brutal is looking to work some ground and pound but Carey has wrist control.

Brutal throwing strikes but missing.
Brutal is looking to pass into half guard but Carey pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Carey is in guard.

Brutal wants to stand and escape but Carey is having none of it.
Brutal utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Brutal looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Carey puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Carey will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Carey is working for a kimura but Brutal is defending it quite comfortably.
Brutal looks like he's trying to stand up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Brutal moves in looking to clinch but Carey pushes him off.
Carey fails to land the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kilim Brutal showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Carey drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Carey jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Carey is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Carey postures up in Brutal's guard and throws a big left but Brutal blocks it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brutal can do anything to dispel that myth.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Carey thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Kilim Brutal comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Brutal has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
