Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sydney Vang (ranked 25057 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erick Reis (ranked 7908 p4p, 0 weight class). Reis comes into a darkened arena with his song building. MC Kekel - Solteiro até morrer kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sydney Vang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Erick Reis!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Vang. Reis does a little dance to reset his feet.

A left lands for Reis.
Reis with a nice cross.
Vang misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Reis.
Reis wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Vang on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Reis scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Vang defending well as Reis loads up on a big left hand.
Reis looks to land a combination but Vang avoids it well.
Vang is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Reis throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Vang stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Reis fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Vang looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Reis is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Vang.

Vang changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Reis fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and Vang counters by moving into the clinch.
Reis is trying to break the clinch but Vang is controlling him.

Vang breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Vang gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Reis is trying to push Vang away but Vang has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Vang really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Vang gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Vang drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Vang jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Vang will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Vang postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
We've been informed that Reis has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Vang drops back looking for a leg! Reis is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Reis manages to kick Vang off! Vang jumps back into Reis's guard.
Reis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Reis kicks Vang off and gets to his feet.
Reis lands a nice hook to Vang's body. Vang takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Vang throws a shot from downtown. Reis moves away and avoids it.
Vang gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Vang tries to clinch up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Reis stuffs the takedown attempt from Vang. Vang gets slowly back to his feet.
It seemed like Reis was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

and Reis counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

and Reis counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Reis can do anything to dispel that myth.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vang has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Vang there as he acknowledges the shot.
Vang shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Reis as he avoids it easily.

Vang goes for a double leg but Reis avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Reis continues to drive forward.

Reis connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Vang's hands.

Vang looks to score with a jab to the body but Reis is just out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Vang pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Reis throws a right hand that Vang ducks under and follows up with a left that Vang also avoids with ease.

Vang lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Reis circles away quickly and effectively.

It looked like Vang was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Vang closes the distance and clinches.
Vang has a couple of punches blocked by Reis.
Vang has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Reis after a bit of a struggle.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Vang wants the takedown. Reis is fighting it off but Vang persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Reis's guard against the cage.

Sydney Vang has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Erick Reis is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Reis is looking to sweep but instead, Vang has passed into half guard.
