Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Iggy Manley (ranked 2450 p4p, 316 weight class) and Major Payne (ranked 2048 p4p, 272 weight class). Manley comes to the cage accompanied by Born in the USA. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Iggy Manley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Major Payne!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Sandra Marshall and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Payne swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Manley doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Payne counters with a left to the body.
Payne is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Manley.
Manley shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
enabling Payne to counter with a crisp jab.
Manley darts in looking for a takedown but Payne gets double underhooks and turns Manley into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Iggy Manley. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Manley takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Payne fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Manley fails to land the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Payne punishes Manley's body with a nice straight punch.
Payne pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Manley back to the cage. Payne follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

and Payne counters with a nice uppercut.
Major Payne is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Manley wants to clinch up but Payne keeps it at a distance.
Manley misses with a takedown attempt
and Manley takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Iggy Manley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Manley on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Payne moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Payne looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Payne lands a really nice looking cross but Manley seems unphased.
Payne scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Manley doesn't seem bothered though.

and Payne connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Manley looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Payne throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Manley on the side of the head.

Manley drops down looking for a counter takedown but Payne sprawls and moves away.

Manley avoids a punch combination nicely.

Manley throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Manley shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Payne's guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Manley darts in looking for a takedown but Payne gets double underhooks and turns Manley into the cage.
Payne bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Manley's head backwards.
Manley shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Payne displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Manley.

letting Payne counter with a right hand.

Payne connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Manley looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Manley takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Payne scores with the left hand. Manley knows he should have avoided that one.
Manley takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Payne lands a jab to the nose.

Iggy Manley is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Manley shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Manley was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Payne tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Manley connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Payne some visible discomfort.
Payne looks to move to half guard but instead Manley has passed into mount! Damn!
Payne is trying desperately to improve position.
Payne really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Manley. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Manley looking to control but Payne is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Payne has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Manley pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Iggy Manley overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Major Payne showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Manley shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Payne napping and manages to drive through into side control!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Payne can do anything to dispel that myth.

Payne is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Manley slips a nice elbow through Payne's hands, connecting with Payne's forehead.

Manley lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Manley seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Manley wants to take a breather but Payne is having none of it.
Manley seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Payne has hold of Manley's hands but Manley slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Manley is looking to take a break and control but Payne is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Manley connects with a nice short shot to Payne's temple.
Iggy Manley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Payne has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Manley is working away from the top position though.

And that's the end of the fight!
Iggy Manley showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Payne has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
