Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Murphy (ranked 8483 p4p, 573 weight class) and Alonzo Green (ranked 21557 p4p, 618 weight class). Murphy's entrance music is Battering Ram - 'Come Out and Fight' Irish Folk. A fine choice. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Murphy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alonzo Green!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Leandro Rodrigues and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Green misses with a wild body shot.
Green blocks a head kick by Murphy.
Green shoots and misses
and Murphy counters with a two punch combo.
Green tries to clinch but Murphy is having none of it.
Murphy throws a right and a left that Green avoids nicely.
Murphy looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Murphy has been working on his boxing with his coaches at All Star Performance Institute in the buildup to the fight.

Green changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Murphy looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Murphy tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Green looks up at the clock and then as Murphy takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Green smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Murphy is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Green off and has taken his back!

Murphy just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Murphy is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Green is defending well though. Murphy let's go of the attempt for now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Green breaks Murphy's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Green is looking to work some ground and pound but Murphy has wrist control.

Murphy has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Green can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Green passes Murphy's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Green wants to work for an arm triangle but Murphy is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Green wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Murphy uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

Murphy manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Green manages to get himself to full guard.

Green controls Murphy momentarily but Murphy frees himself.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Murphy is fighting to break Green's control of his arms but Green is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A punch lands to the side of Green 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Murphy dives in for a single leg takedown but Green sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Murphy ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Murphy no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Green wants to control from the top but Murphy keeps moving.

Green keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Murphy's head.

Green drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Murphy manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Green has Murphy in his guard.

Green jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Murphy walks away with a smile on his face. Green gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Green fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Murphy avoids it really well and circles away.
Murphy throws a series of punches but Green avoids them all with ease.

Green wants to clinch but Murphy slips to the side
and Murphy counters with a two punch combo.

Green stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Green wants it to stay on the feet.
