Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michel Cook (ranked 8751 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryan Lee (ranked 7910 p4p, 0 weight class). Bryan Lee will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michel Cook!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bryan Lee!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Lee shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cook is trying to defend but Lee finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Cook wants to get back to full guard.
Cook is not content to let Lee control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lee wants to pass to mount but Cook is defending the position.

Cook looking for submissions off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cook is looking for a sweep. Lee is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Lee is landing with some decent strikes but Cook is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lee connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Cook is looking to get to half guard.
Lee postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Cook looks a forlorn figure.
Lee wants to control the pace but Cook is squirming around nicely.

Lee looking for a guillotine from mount but Cook is having none of it.
Cook prevents any damage by holding on tight.

Lee goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Cook is on top in guard.
Cook wanted to stand there but Lee had control of the position.

Cook could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Cook is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Lee lands a jab to Cook's midsection.

Lee bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Cook is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Lee's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Cook wants to control but Lee is keeping busy.

Lee is looking to stall here but Cook recovers full guard.

Cook bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lee's guard.


Lee is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cook defends well.
Cook keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Lee's head.
Lee is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cook is controlling him.
Lee is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Cook works over Lee with some ground and pound from guard.
Cook chips away with some ground and pound.

Cook stands and steps away. Lee gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Lee misses with a low kick.
Cook was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Lee shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Lee showed some decent athleticism there.

Cook actively working from the bottom here.
Cook desperately trying to maintain half guard.

Cook wants to improve his position but Lee is controlling well.
Lee is keen to just control but Cook is a slippery customer.
Cook is concentrating on defense, preventing Lee from advancing position.
Lee works his way into side control.
Lee is looking to take a break and control but Cook is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Lee tries for a kimura but Cook is defending well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lee is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Cook's shoulder. That is not cool.
Cook tries to improve position but can't.

Lee decides to stand back up. Lee steps back and let's Cook get back to his feet.

Lee dives in and scores a takedown into Cook's guard.
Lee is breathing heavily.

Cook is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lee is aware though and is defending well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cook controlling the position.
Lee has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Lee wants to control from the top but Cook keeps moving.
Cook lands an upkick as Lee stands over him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bryan Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Lee lands with a shot to the body.

Lee forces Cook back against the cage and clinches.

Lee jumps into guard, dragging Cook to the mat.

Lee working for a triangle but Cook defends it easily.
Cook wants to get up but he can't break Lee's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Lee controls Cook momentarily but Cook frees himself.
Cook content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Lee manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cook manages to get himself to full guard.

Cook keeping moving, preventing Lee from controlling successfully.
Lee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lee accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Lee with a nice head shot there.

Cook escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lee gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Cook knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lee on the ground.
Cook looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lee is one step ahead there.

Cook is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lee defends well.
Cook is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Lee looking to sit in guard and control but Cook gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Lee wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Cook is now in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Cook seems to be working for a kimura but Lee defends the submission attempt.
Lee is looking to improve his position.
Lee is trying to maintain the position but Cook is very close to passing his half guard.
Lee is looking to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Cook looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Lee has one foot on Cook's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bryan Lee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lee has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
